Shark Awareness Painting
This Painting is Titled "One Shark Is Worth A Million Now". It is 40" X 40" and was prepared for the SAC Annual Juried Art Show for the Theme "Environment". It is Acrylic On Canvas.
Here are some Close-Up pictures since this painting is very large:
So what you are looking at is an Ocean within an Ocean. You are staring at the Ocean that is the Shark Fin Soup and its view is the Top of the Ocean. Then when you look at the sky its actually the Bottom of the Ocean showing the illegal Line that captures sharks and they possibly drown prior to the boat that comes and drags them in and cuts off their fins and throws them back into the ocean to drown. The Fin in this painting is made up of dead sharks that are lined up to infinity just for the bowl of "Shark Fin Soup". Many small countries that are near the ocean are fishing out the sharks on a daily event since their fins are worth more than selling drugs these days.
Many shark species are in peril of extinction. Every year, tens of millions of sharks suffer painful deaths to supply the cruel and wasteful shark fin trade. The fins are used in dishes such as shark fin soup, which may be served by Chinese restaurants and during banquets, weddings and other events.
Sharks aren’t the vicious killing machines they’ve been made out to be. They are living beings who feel pain. They are essential to a healthy ocean ecosystem, but they’re rapidly disappearing at an alarming rate because of humans!
